About
UKandu
And the story behind the name. I read about a young Nepalese woman named Kandu. She and her sister ran a tea house below Mount Everest. Customers came on their way to base camp filled with enthusiasm, talking about their dreams and their plans. The same customers would grace the tea house on their return trip. And Kandu would listen again to their experiences and their achievements. Misfortune came Kandu's way when her sister, still young woman, suddenly died. Kandu was left the tea house. Kandu sold it and pursued her dreams by coming to the US to study climbing in order to become a Sherpa. This was a tradition in Kandu's family. At that time in Nepal, only men were Sherpas. Kandu fell in love with a Westerner, married and returned home twice a year to climb. She managed to ascend some of the highest mountains of the world, and not as a Sherpa carrying other peoples equipment.
I loved how Kandu exceeded her own dream.

I was looking for guidance on naming my show. I must've said to Raven if Kandu UKandu too. I liked the alliteration and how it sounded. Raven suggested you can do is a great name. First, it became the name of my radio show and then the name of my coaching business and remains the name of my Coaching and Hypnosis business. You can do whatever you put your mind in heart do.
A personal story about
Nanci Adair
I couldn’t tell if I was dreaming or awake.
I thought I could hear her voice…
and suddenly, I’d be standing in a room alone.
Then my mother appeared to me in a dream.
She handed me a box and said, “When you miss me, open it.
Inside will be the memories we shared.”
My father was drinking more heavily than ever. drowning his grief in alcohol.
I left home, got a job, earned my GED and went to college — eventually all the way to a master’s degree in counseling psychology and several post graduate certifications.
None of my credentials gave me what that dream did: The belief that my inner voice is not paranoia it’s power.
I believe energy is intelligence. And that even in the most difficult of times something greater is always guiding us.
If you’ve ever been told you’re “too sensitive” or “overly emotional” I want you to know this: That sensitivity? It’s not a weakness. It’s a gift.

I have been coaching since 2002. All my services are available online.
I am proud to be an artist in recovery and am dedicated to living my best life clean and sober.
My sobriety journey began in 1980.
I am a fiber artist and illustrator. In 2025 I had a solo exhibit of my ComfortHER Quilt project at The Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk, Maine. Below is my first self-portrait done in fabric.
